Today was a nice and sunny day in Borovets, with 5-10 cm of fresh snow overnight in the Markudjik ski center. Temperatures were mostly below 0°C in the early morning but rose later in the day to 5-10°C, depending on how high up in the ski resort you were. Wind conditions were very stable, with only a slight breeze up in the Markudjik Ski Center, which was a nice change to the windy conditions we had at the end of February and beginning of March. During the weekend we’re expecting similar conditions with plenty of sun and good times!

All lifts in the resort are working, even the Markudjik 3 surface lift, which was closed for most of the season. Lift lines were again nowhere to be found except at the gondola station. There the queue was about 10-15 minutes, even though the line was all the way outside of the building. It only looks like it will take much longer than it actually does. We literally didn’t wait in line on any chairlift today, at all. Perfect!

Even though it wasn't much, the new snow made for some nice turns.

Up in the Markudjik Ski Center, we got around 10cm of new snow and threw down some powder turns around the Markudjik 3 ski piste. Conditions on the slopes were much better here than in the lower ski centers thanks to the fresh snow. Don’t be afraid of a little rain though from now until the end of the season, as there is plenty of snow to last until April at the least. Conditions were worst today in the Yastrebets Ski Center, as the slopes were much icier than normal and it’s been like this for a while now. This is due to the warm temperatures during the day melting the top layer of snow and it then freezing overnight. The slopes do loosen up in the afternoon, but you should be careful nonetheless.

In the Sitnyakovo Ski Center, the slopes are again icy in the morning but soften up much earlier than in the Yastrebets Ski Center. By noon, the flat parts of the slopes are a little slushy, while the steeper Martinovi Baraki runs remain hard. The snow park is currently closed due to various kids races. Today was the boardercross race and tomorrow there will be a freestyle competition. We have no information when the park will be again open to the public, but our guess is Monday, once the races are over.
