It’s March and the high-season has officially come and gone. This is good news for everyone who’s booked their vacation the upcoming weeks. All lifts in the resort are operating, there’re little to no queues and the slopes are well covered with snow. And there’s even more snow to come in the next days!

Weather conditions & Forecast

The forecast for this week is all about snow. It started snowing few days ago and it hasn’t stopped ever since. Snow showers are expected every day of the week and the temperatures are once again back to their minus levels. The skiing season might be more than half-way through but winter is definitely still here. According to the forecast, the coldest day of the week will be Thursday when temperatures will drop down to – 13 C.

The snow base at the Markudjik ski centre is now 250 cm and the entire ski area offers great conditions at the moment. However, skiing there this past week was only enjoyable on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday when the fog still hadn’t covered the resort. It’s been foggy ever since and the visibility hasn’t been good that high in the mountain. Here’s a snapshot from Monday when it was just the right amount of cloudy.

All slopes in the resort are currently in business. Same goes for the lifts. With the progression of the week, the snowy clouds lowered the vibisility across the entire resort. The Markudjik ski area was no longer as pleasant to ski but the lower parts of the resort were pretty nice.

Quick Tip: If you’re consider early March for your skiing vacation, keep in mind that the slopes are pretty busy during this period. The Bulgarian Liberation day takes place on the 3rd of March which is also a bank holiday. Many Bulgarians choose to take the entire week off to go skiing so the resort sometimes gets busy.
