In this snow report we’re going to bring you up to speed with what the conditions are like during the night skiing sessions in Borovets. The night skiing takes place in the Sitnyakovo ski center between 18:30 and 21:30 (ticket desks open at 18:00 in front of the Martinovi Baraki lift) and you will need to buy a separate lift pass. The price of the night skiing is 22lv (11 euro).

Before the lift reopens for the night skiing, the slopes are groomed everyday. This resets the slope, so that the night skiers can ski on fresh pistes. Open during the night skiing are the Martinovi Baraki ski runs and the 3 surface lifts in front of hotel Rila. This gives a wide selection of ski runs for both beginner and advanced skiers. Another advantage is that there are much less people during the evening, than during the day, so almost no lift lines.

Conditions this time were good, even though the slopes were slushy. Softer weather meant that the ski runs didn’t have time to harden, but were still very skiable. When the temperatures are freezing, the slope hardens just in time for the first night skiers. For such conditions we suggest using a pair of wider skis (90mm ski waist and up), as they cope with the soft snow much better. Conditions on the beginner slopes were good for learning the basics and falling in soft snow doesn’t hurt as much. The Martinovi Baraki 4 ski run was closed for grooming during the evening. The snow park was also closed for grooming and maintenance.

If you’re thinking about trying the night skiing we highly advise it. Borovets has the best night skiing in Bulgaria and it would be a shame not to try it. Even though the slopes are the same, the experience as a whole is different. It’s also a good time to get some extra lessons and you can even ski the same day you arrive, if you’re on time. Ski & Board Traventuria works until 22:00, so that our clients can fully enjoy the night skiing.
