It’s March 21st and spring is officially back here the northern hemisphere. However, winter has definitely not left Borovets yet. Read on to see just how cold and snowy it was here this past few days.

Weather conditions & Forecast

March is always unpredictable and did surprise us nicely once again. While It may be already spring, late March feels as cold and snowy as mid January. Temperatures did not rise above the 0 C mark in the past week and are not forecasted to do so this week either. Although sunny, the weekend was really cold and temperatures dropped down to the freezing – 15 C. During the week, we got new snow almost every other day and were able to ski 20 new cm of snow on Friday. Absolutely fabulous weather conditions for this part of the season.

Winter is definitely still here in Borovets

The cold weather helped to preserve the snow cover and the condition of the slopes. On top of the mountain at the Markudjik ski area, the snow base is still estimated to be the impressive 280 cm.

Slopes & Lifts

This season has been really amazing and the amount of snow in Borovets at the moment is impressive to say the least. All lifts and slopes in the resort are in business as usual. Even the Markudjik 3 drag lift was in operation for most of last week.

Markudjik 3 is the highest located lift in Borovets

There’s little to no queues at the lifts, loads of snow and the low temperatures are keeping slopes in great shape all day. In fact, Borovets has so much snow right now that it’s hard to believe the ski season is due to end in 3 weeks.

There’s really something for everyone to enjoy in Borovets right now. The cold temperatures have preserved all slopes really nicely and off-piste enthusiasts still have great conditions to enjoy, too. if you have non-skiers in your company, they could easily enjoy a sunny lunch or hike on top of the mountain, too.
