Today was one of many sunny days in a row here in Borovets and the forecast is for blue skies until Wednesday. The slopes are in great condition thanks to the 30+ cm of snow that fell earlier in the week and the cold temperatures. Conditions are great coming into February and hopefully we’ll get even more snow soon.

All lifts in the resort are working, except for the Markudjik 3 surface lift, which has yet to open this year. Lift lines during the weekend are much longer than during the week, because many people from Sofia come to ski during their days off. The biggest line is at the gondola, but it’s no longer than 40 minutes. The second biggest line is at the Yastrebets Express lift, but it’s only 5-10 minutes long. Lines in the Markudjik Ski Center are smaller, and there is almost no line for the Martinovi Baraki lift in the Sitnyakovo Ski Center.

Slope conditions these last few days are very good thanks to the new snow from last weekend. Early morning the pistes are groomed with a nice waffled finish and stay flat at least until noon. The Markudjik 2 A & B slopes are also open, but only the B run is groomed. We didn’t see any rocks on the groomed Markudjik runs in the morning, but the 2A is covered in moguls with some rocks and roots. The Musalenska Ski Way is still closed, so you’ll have to go through the Yastrebets Ski Center to get back down the mountain. Down in the Sitnyakovo Ski Center the slopes are icier than up top, due to the slightly higher temperatures which melt the top layer of fresh snow. All runs are open for the night skiing as well.

Today there was a snowboarding demo in the snow park next to the Iglika surface lift. Over a dozen pro snowboarders from the Stinky Family team arrived in Borovets to throw down some awesome tricks and many people went home with prizes. As always, the official after party is in club “After 11” with live music and DJs.
