What a legendary weekend! As cold and as snowy as it gets! The coldest days of the season delivered plenty of snow to Borovets – just in time for February and the upcoming holidays.
Slopes & Lifts
The extremely cold temperatures in the past days didn’t stop winter sports enthusiasts from enjoying the new snow in the resort. After a rather foggy Monday, Tuesday didn’t disappoint and lifts, including Markudjik 3 drag lift, were operating while temperatures remained around -18C the entire day. The cold weather contributed for perfectly crispy and groomed slopes and in the meantime, off piste lovers were able to enjoy more than 50 cm of powder in the Markudjik ski area.
Slopes did deliver lots of fun, too. The new snow created fantastic base for the slopes and all pistes were fast, perfectly groomed and forgiving, as opposed to the icy conditions from the previous week.
All ski roads were also opened, including the Musala pathway.
Snow cover & Forecast
It started snowing in Borovets on Friday and didn’t stop until Monday. The new snow cover was over 35sm. only on Friday and kept adding up throughout the weekend. With that, the snow cover at the Markudjik ski area is now estimated to be 165 cm and the centre of Borovets now has close to 135 cm. Absolutely staggering amounts of snow for this part of January compared to the same week of last year and the year before.
There’s more snow in the forecast for this week with another 30 cm of snow coming our way. The extreme cold temperatures will slowly start to warm up towards the end of the week and February is expected to start with fantastic weather and skiing conditions.
