As promised – another week, another snow report from our team! The cold spell in the last few days brought temperatures as low as -20C in the mountains. Fresh snow welcomed us in the high areas last weekend too. Today, the sun was shining since early in the morning, but due to heavy wind, the Gondola Lift of Yastebets couldn’t operate until noontime. This resulted in a queue for the Yastrebets Express, but the waiting time at the other lifts didn’t exceed 3-4min. An overall a great and sunny day, with pleasant temperatures as compared to last weekend.
Perfect slopes for skiing met all early risers this morning.
High winds in the morning caused the closure of the Gondola lift, but in the afternoon it resumed operation.
Snow Cover & Forecast
The snow cover is around 55 cm at the lowest and around 90 cm at the highest areas as Markudjik Ski Center. Significant snowfall is forecasted for the upcoming weekend. Snow cannons continue to work over night. Insufficient snow cover in the lower parts of the mountain hinders the opening of some of the lifts. In the middle of the day, the temperatures in the highest areas were around -8C.
Lifts & Slopes
As of today, all of the lifts are operating, except for the surface lifts of Iglika, Markudjik #1, and Markudjik #3. The heavy wind this morning has stopped the Gondola Lift of Yastebets until noon. During midday, the weather got much more blissful.
Speaking of the open pistes, not much has changed since last week. From the Markudjik ski runs only the red #3 is still closed. All of the four runs of Martinovi baraki are open. Musalenska Pathway is still closed due to insufficient snow cover. The Sitnyakovo ski zone is partially open – the royal residence ski way for beginners is still closed, as well as Sitnyakovo #2.
VIP attitude towards the smallest customers of Ski & Board Traventuria ski school: this season we will aim at keeping 1:3 ratio for better results.
The night skiing in the resort started last Friday. The pistes are well-maintained and the snow cannons are working non-stop during the night skiing as well.
