On January 16th, Borovets celebrated the World Snow Day and opened its newly built Borovets Snow Park. The festive day welcomed plenty of tourists as the lift pass for toddlers was only discounted to only 1 BGN on a glorious sunny Sunday – a great deal for one of January’s finest days.

Slopes & Lifts

The resort with as busy as it gets this Sunday – with plenty of families of local and foreigner tourists who decided to join the celebrations for the World Snow Day. Luckily for all, the entire ski area was opened and all lift facilities were operating.

A fine day at Borovets’ Yastrebets Gondola top station

The queue at Yastrebets Express was pretty busy in the morning whereas Sitnyakovo Express and Martinovi baraki Express lifts were able to spread the traffic evenly and avoid large queues. Slopes across the entire resort were hard-packed and even little icy in certain areas as temperatures remained negative during the entire weekend.

New in: Borovets now has a snow park again

Another big thing that happened in Borovets this weekend was the opening of its new Borovets Snow Park. The resort now offers an intermediate level snow park on the side of the Popangelov slope with 2 jib lines that consist of rails and boxes. There’s no jump at the park but the park offers great conditions for those looking to try or enhance their jibbing.

Be the first to see the pictures of the new Borovets Snow Park:

If you’re going to visit the park and have no experience in snow park, make sure to wear and helmet (as always) and start with the easiest features such as the boxes.

Weather, Forecast and Snow Cover

This weekend was definitely the coldest weekend of January so far. Temperatures didn’t hit above zero but thankfully sun was there to make the days bearable and absolutely stunning.

Borovets Haramia Slope

End the day on the Haramia slope – with no people and lots of sun. Absolutely fantastic.

It did snow a bit in the past week but the resort can surely use some more snow and we do hope that the World Snow Day celebrations will soon the followed by snowfall. And fortunately – that exactly what the forecast for the upcoming week predicts.
