Here comes another snow report from our team! With our weekly snow reports, we aim to provide you with the current conditions in the resort. Not only on the positive side but on the negative as well. Right after the holidays, the conditions have been great for skiing. The slopes have been well-maintained with enough snow and the sun shining above. But until Tuesday this week, it has been raining continuously for 3-4 days, which has worsened the conditions in the mountains. We’re glad to share that now the weather is much more pleasant and the forecast is for snowfall in the upcoming days!
Snow Cover
The snow base is around 15 cm at the lowest and 70 cm at the highest areas. The snow cannons are working non-stop to deliver a sufficient snow cover on the open slopes. During the upcoming weekend, light snowfall is forecasted. So we all hope for more snowfall so that we can conquer all of the pistes very soon!
Avalanche Danger
Because of the continuous rain until the middle of the week, the snow has become very moist. This resulted in avalanches in high areas. Consequently, there is still an avalanche warning in the area of Musala Cirque beyond Markudjik 3 Ski Run. For your own safety, please do not go outside the marked ski areas!
Lifts & Slopes
The night skiing in the resort starts today! The open pistes for night skiing are as usual the Martinovi Baraki 1,2,3 and 4, Rila, Iglika, Rotata. Night skiing is operating from 06:00 PM until 09:30 PM. Head on over to a previous blog post of ours for more details!
As of today, all of the lifts are currently working, but not all of the slopes are open. From the Markudjik ski runs only the red #3 is closed, the other three runs are open for intermediate and advanced skiers (Markudjik #1, #2A, #2B). It was a bit windy early in the morning today on the Markudjik ski runs. The Yastrebets ski trails have sufficient snow cover but are a bit icy. Unfortunately, there is still not enough snow in the lower parts of the mountains and the Musalenska Pathway is still closed. The Sitnyakovo ski zone is partially open as well.
Bars & Restaurants
All of the bars and restaurants on the slopes are working, applying all covid safety measures. You can get food and drinks and have them outside. There are tables, situated at a safe distance.
