Over the last week, we’ve had a diverse palette of weather conditions here in Borovets, including some more fresh snowfalls. It was also one of the busiest weeks of the season, with many visitors from the UK for their mid-term school holidays. All-in-all conditions are looking sweet as we head into March, possibly the best time of the season to go on a ski trip.

The MArkudjik Ski Center when it was sunny during the last week.

This week there were big queues on many lifts a lot of the time, but it’s like that in most European resorts this time of year. The biggest lift lines we’re at the few chokepoints in the resort, such as the queue for the gondola and especially at the gondola mid-waystation in the Yastrebets ski zone. Thankfully we’re expecting things to quite down from now until the end of the season and for there to be no more big lift queues after the 3rd of March. Weather conditions were generally good and we did get some nice snowfalls at the end of the week. The forecast for the next week is showing warm weather lower in the mountain and possibly some rain on the 3rd, but temperatures will quickly drop and by next Thursday we should be getting more snow in the resort. There is a forecast for heavy snowfall around the 10th, but that far away forecast rarely gets it correct.

Conditions in Sitnyakovo are also very good.

Thanks to the recent snowfalls, conditions on the slopes are very good and with very few icy patches leftover from the snow cannons. There is the most snow in the Markudjk Ski Center, but my favorite pistes are the ones a little bit lower in the mountain, in the Yastrebets Ski Center. The main reason I prefer them when snow conditions are similar is the fact that they are much longer than the Markudjik slopes. It also seems like there are fewer people there during the week than in the other two ski centers. But on days like today, when there is plenty of fresh snow, nothing beats the Markudjik Ski Center and it’s wide-open nature.
