Another sunny week here in Borovets, a perfect time for a ski vacation. Lift lines are small and slope conditions are good, what more do you need? In this report we look at the conditions and some new features in the Yastrebets ski area.

Weather has been cold and sunny here since our last report. No new snowfall, but there is still plenty left from the earlier snowfalls this winter. The forecast shows some clouds rolling in over the weekend, however we will see if they bring any significant new snow.

Starting from top to bottom, the Markudjik ski center is open, except for the Markudjik 3 surface lift. The Markudjik 3 slope has been groomed and will be open as long as conditions allow. When skiing the 2B run be cautious of a few grass patches and small rocks on the slope. We also advise wearing sunscreen, as the altitude can enhance the effects of the sun.

The Yastrebets ski center has two new features. The first is a small slalom course spread out on the left sleeve of the Popangelov run, just 100m from the top of the Yastrebets Express lift. If you’re skiing around the course, but not in it, make sure to not cut someone off. This is a good place to practice planning your turns, but watch out, the track is icy.

The second new feature is a small skicross slopes with a few berms and rollers. It’s located next to the slalom course, so you can’t ski both in one go. It starts of with a few very long turns and finishes off with 3 small rollers (a roller is a bump, but not a jump).

Conditions in the night skiing area are also good. Even though Sitnyakovo is situated lowest in the mountain, it has some of the best slopes. There are also almost no queues for the lifts, but the surface lifts can sometimes be busy. The Borosport Snow Park is also open and a good place to start learning your first tricks.
