Christmas on the slopes!
Santa Klaus was nowhere to be seen on the slopes of Borovets this holiday weekend but the Christmas spirit was surely there. After a short break, it was great to see Borovets as lively and snowy with plenty of people who choose the oldest Bulgarian ski resort for their Christmas holiday.
Slopes & Lifts
It’s been a while since Borovets had so many lifts functioning for Christmas. Even though almost all slopes were completely opened at the beginning of the day in Sunday, the strong winds in the afternoon required the resort team to close down the entire Markudjik ski area. In the lower part, Martinovi Baraki offered great conditions for Christmas skiing while Sitnyakovo ski pathway and the Red Flag slope remained closed. Yastrebets 2 was in great condition, even though felt slightly slushy in its lower part.
Snow Cover & Forecast
While the day was festive and Christmas spirit was in the air, weather was slightly cloudy on Sunday as opposed to the sunny Saturday the day before. Temperatures had risen during the past week which decreased the snow cover. The strong south winds had also affected the snow but despite that, slopes were fast and fun – hard packed in their upper parts and buttery and slushy in the bottom.
Night skiing was perfectly groomed and hard-packed for a great evening of Christmas skiing.
