Lately, many people have been asking us how the conditions are during the night skiing in Borovets. So for this weeks snow report we decided to give you some more info on what the conditions are during the night skiing sessions.
The night skiing in Borovets takes place in the Stinyakovo ski center from 18:00 to 21:30 and is serviced by the Martinovi Baraki ski lift and the ski barges Rila and Iglika. Ski passes have to be bought separately and it’s a good idea to get your pass beforehand. Many skiers come from Sofia after work and there can be a significant line at the ticket desk if the weather is good. All of the ski lifts are fully open for the night skiing. Working ski slopes are the Martinovi Baraki slopes, which are 4 (1 blue, 2 red, 1 black), Rila, Iglika, Rotata and the end of the Sitnyakovo Royal Residence Ski Way. The Cherveno Znam ski run doesn’t open for night skiing.
The snow conditions on the slopes are good and they are well groomed before each night skiing session. There wasn’t any ice on the slopes and it wasn’t the typical hardpacked snow we’ve gotten used to skiing this season. The slopes were actually rather soft and easy to carve on. After the first hour the slopes weren’t perfectly flat, but rather bumpy, still good fun. And this was mostly on the beginning of the Martinovi Baraki 1 ski run, where every skier must pass through. Further down, where the traffic of skiers disperses, the slopes were much smoother.
The Promo Park is also starting to take shape next to the Iglika ski barge. Currently the park line has only a few rails, but the jump there looks almost finished.
