February is almost over and we are already expecting and hoping for March to bring some new snow back into the resort!
Here’s our weekly snow report from the slopes of Borovets. Read on to see just how much snow has left after another week of spring-like weather.
Lifts, Slopes and Snow
Is there any snow left with such warm temperatures?
Probably the question everyone is asking around. And yes, there is still snow, although its conditions aren’t very optimal. The early morning rides were good (especially at Yastrebets ski area), although icy areas were a common sight. After 10:30 -11:00 am the snow was quickly getting slushy with riding getting slower.
During the week conditions were ok at Yastrebets center – less people, temperatures – a bit lower allowing for the snow to be in better conditions. Night skiing was ok, too, but still not cold as we are used to during night skiing.
However the weekend spring-like weather led to more snow melting at Markudjitsi (slopes Markudjik 1, 2, 3). Here is why yesterday and today those pistes, together with slope Suhar, are closed. Respectively Markudjik 2 (4 seats) chair lift and drag lifts – Markudjik 0, 1 and 3, are closed as well.
It did snow a little bit during Sunday night and this is probably the reason why some of the slopes like Yastrebets 1 to mid station (Intermediate), Haramia (Easy) and Fonfon (Experts only) were not well groomed on Monday morning.
