It’s Half term break and Borovets is as busy as expected. Read on to see just how sunny and busy the resort was this past week.
Slopes and Snow
We did not get any snowfall this week. Warm and spring-like weather throughout the whole week affected the snow as one could imagine. Most “damage” had been done to the top – Markudjik Ski Center – slopes Markudjik 1, 2, 3, Haramia and Yastrebets 1, where sun was the strongest.
Slushy slopes in the afternoon were a common situation, so the early morning rides and the night skiing were more preferable. Attention though – slushy slopes during the day meant more ice in the mornings, in the night rides and in the shadowy areas of the slopes.
Snow conditions on Martinovi Baraki were quite good, but unfortunately slopes there were much more crowded.
Lifts and Slopes
All lifts were operating as usual, night skiing is still Wednesdays to Sundays from 6.30pm to 22 pm. It was quite busy as well, but the queues were fast.
After the spring-like week and weekend, today was quite windy. The wind in combination with warmer temperatures led to the closing of Gondola cabin lift and Markudjik 2 (4 seat chair lift). Thus Markudjik (1, 2A, 2B, and 3), Haramia and Yastrebets 1 (from top to middle station) were closed today as well.
Weather Forecast
Weather forecast says it will be sunny and warm during the week ahead as well. Not as warm as this past week, but still – the minimal temperatures will remain around zero or little below the zero degrees Celsius. The much awaited snowfall is expected towards Thursday, Friday and Sunday.
