April 16th was the last day of skiing for the winter season of 2022/2023 in Borovets. So here’s our last snow report from the slopes of the resort.

Snow and Slopes (last week’s overview)
Monday (10.04) kicked off this final week of skiing with new snow once again.
Tuesday (11.04) morning welcomed us with plenty of fresh snow on top of the already well groomed slopes. There was around 5 cm of new snow in the lower parts and around 25cm in the higher parts of the resort. It was a great freeride day.

Wednesday (12.04) and Thursday (13.04) were great for on track skiing with the new snow already groomed almost to perfection. Thursday (13.04) was probably one of the best skiing days for the whole season with great snow conditions, no wind, lots of sunshine and no crowds. Yastrebets and Markudjik skiing areas were in top shape making us enjoy the mountains at its best before saying goodbye to the season. It was really great to see Borovets in its snowy glory for once more before the 2022/2023 skiing season is over. April did deliver its best.

Friday (14.04) was sunny again but quite windy, too. Here’s why Yastrebets Express and Gondola lift did not work. Martinovi Baraki’s main slope was good up to the ski road including, but the snow quickly got soft and slushy after 11am.
Saturday (16.04) was the last skiing day of the 2022/2023 season. The only open areas were the Markudjik ski centre and Yastrebets skiing area. Snow was pretty firm and icy up until 10am.
In Conclusion
It was quite a season! Started off promising, but then for Christmas and New Years Eve we did not have as much snow as we had hoped for. January was pretty dry, too, making us wonder what is going on with the winter worldwide. February delivered well, but March failed our hopes. Still April proved that winter can be unpredictable and allowed us to enjoy the 2022/2023 season longer than expected!

Thank you April for allowing us to see Borovets in its snowy glory again and for being able to ski up until Easter (Orthodox Easter) even. Many thanks to all of the staff at Borovets resort for the efforts of maintaining skiable slopes despite the overall difficult season.
