It’s Monday again and it’s time for our weekly snow report from the slopes of Borovets Ski Resort.
Read on to see just how snowy it is in the mountains of Rila. Winter is still here and it seems like it is having no plans of leaving us soon.

If someone had told me that on the 10th of April there will be more snow than there was in the second half of February, or for the whole month of March, I would have laughed.
But yet, here we are – one Easter weekend is gone, another Easter weekend is on its way, and we are still skiing! And what is more, snow conditions are really really good! Borovets resort has just announced that winter season 2022/2023 will be open until the 16th of April including.
Slopes and Snow
With almost no people on the slopes and no lines on the lifts, skiing in April turned out to be so much more pleasant than skiing in the warmer and busier times of March and February.

Week Overview
The week started with new snowfall on Monday and on Tuesday. Tuesday morning we woke up with some 10-15 cm of new snow above 1500m. Forecast was for more snowfall on Tuesday night, so the resort was able to open the Markudjik Ski area starting 05.04 (Wednesday). Currently still open and running with the “Markudjik 2” seat lift operating as well!

Friday – perfect conditions especially on Markudjik slopes and on slope – Yastrebets 3. Snow was firm and there was no ice.

Some new snowfall was on Saturday and despite the weather forecast it did snow even in the lower parts of the resort. Saturday’s skiing conditions were perfect.

Sunday was great, too. Typical winter conditions for the slopes with a bit of new snow on top, but even the older snow below was with very good structure. Snow was firm and with no icy areas. There were no queues on the lifts and less people on the tracks. Snow conditions (especially above 1770 m) will definitely be good for another week.

Lifts and Slopes
Borovets Gondola lift is open, and “Markudjik 2 “ seat lift is open as well, as I mentioned above. All the Markudjik drag lifts are functioning except for “Markudjik 3” since slope “Markudjik 3” (Intermediate) is not working, either.
Fonfon (Experts only) slope is open, but is not groomed. And “Markudjik 2-A” (Experts only) is open as well, but is not groomed, either.

Suhar (Beginners), Haramia (Easy), and Martinovi Baraki 4 (Experts only) are open as well.
Sitnyakovo 1-3 (and its lift) and Yastrebets 1 (Intermediate) are closed.

Weather Forecast
This morning at Markudjik 2 (2486 m) temperature was -7.3°C and -6.5°C at Markudjik Ski Center (2345 m).
At Yastrebets Top Station (2039 m): -4.7°C and at Sitnyakovo Express Top Station: -2.2°C.

A moderate fall of snow is expected for tonight (Monday night). Temperatures will be below freezing (max -1°C on Mon afternoon, min -4°C on Mon night). Winds will decrease (fresh winds from the WNW on Wed afternoon, light winds from the WNW by Wed night).
