Overview
As you already know Monday is for the weekly snow report from our Borovets Ski Blog.
Today Borovets is welcoming us with perfect sunny weather up in the mountains. The temperature at the Borovets Ski area – 1341m (i.e. Rila hotel area and around) currently is 6 degrees above zero. As we take the lifts and go higher up at Sitnyakovo express top station (1775m) and Yastrebets Express top station (2040m) temperatures drop to zero degrees and to 2 degrees below zero. It’s clear and shiny, skies are blue and the views are beyond amazing as usual. All the school break crowds are gone with February and March is probably one of the most enjoyable months for skiing/snowboarding in Borovets (and in Bulgaria’s top resorts).

Slopes and Lifts
Here are the currently open slopes:
- Fonfon (Experts only) – open but not groomed
- Popangelov and Yastrebets 3 – open and in great skiing conditions
- Martinovi Baraki 1 – 4 – open and in very good conditions.
- Sitnyakovo 1 – 3 (+ Royal residence ski way) – open and in great conditions as well
- Haramia – open
- Borokids park – open
As for the closed ones – they remain pretty much the same as last week: Suhar (Beginners), Markudjik 1, 2 (A and B), and 3, but we add the closure of Yastrebets 1 to mid station as well. Thus as of today Fun Park Borovets is also closed.
Gondola lift is open together with Yastrebets Express, Martinovi Baraki Express and Sitnyakovo Express.

For Night skiing the news here is that for the month of March it will be open only on Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays!

Snow and Forecast
We did hope for snow, but unfortunately last week we did not get as much snowfall as we had hoped for. Some light snowfall on Thursday and Friday made for some 5 cm new snow cover, mainly above 1600m, which of course is not very satisfying. However temperatures were lower, preserving the snow base from heavy melting and allowing us to start on good this week.
The weather forecast is not quite promising for the week ahead, either, as far as snowfalling is concerned again.
It will be mostly sunny in the mountains. There will be more significant temporary increases in cloudiness over the massifs of southern Bulgaria, but it will remain almost without precipitation. A weak and moderate south-westerly wind will blow. The maximum temperature at 1200 meters will be around 7°, at 2000 meters – around 0°.
