One of the best places to each lunch on a sunny day in Borovets is at the top of the Markudjik ski center. There is a small selection of restaurants located just beneath the top gondola station, at 2350m. asl. Right on the slope is The White House restaurant, a nice place with good food, outdoor and indoor tables and fast service.
You can find The White House restaurant in the area between the surface lift Markudjik 0 and the top gondola station. It’s at the crossroads of the Suhar->Markudjik and Suhar->Haramiya ski runs, so after lunch you can easily continue to any of the other ski zones. Probably the best part about eating in this area is the view and the nice tan you can catch on a sunny day. Also the time saved from going to the Sitnyakovo ski center isn’t small. However, all of this added comfort comes with higher prices in the menu, which is normal for any ski resort.
The menu has something for everyone. Other than a wide selection of drinks, you can order a salad, pizza, pasta, dessert, a soup or one of their main dishes. For drinks you can choose from the standard hot drinks and soft drinks, as well as local or Becks bottled beer, draft beer, hot wine and rakia and the a variety of hard alcohol. A 500ml. draft beer or glass of red wine is 5lv, tea and coffee is 4lv. Hard alcohol is 4lv for Bulgarian drinks and 7lv for imported ones.
For soup we can suggest the bean soup with sausage, which is enough to satisfy anyone in need of a light lunch. If you’d like a salad, then you have the choice between a Shopska or Shepherds salad only. For a main dish the chicken roquefort with mushrooms is good. They also offer an English breakfast, for those of you who missed the one in their hotel.
The grill and burger selection makes up for the lack of salads. The home sausage and cheeseburger are two options you can’t go wrong with. Keep in mind that there is a difference between the normal sausage and the home sausage, with the latter being much more tasty. There are also 4 different pastas and 9 pizzas you can choose from all ranging between 14lv and 17lv. For a group of 3, a soup and beer each comes to around 20 euros in total.
