Even though there is a wide variety of restaurants in Borovets, many visitors opt to go to the neighboring town of Samokov for dinner during their stay a few times. The reason is that Samokov is very close and cheap to get to by taxi, while offering the same (if not better) quality restaurants at lower prices.
One of our favorite restaurants in Samokov is Target Bar & Restaurant. It’s located in the Eastern part of the town on 18 Todor Peev street, about 10-15 minutes by taxi from Borovets. You will notice it by its bright orange walls and outdoor patios (which are unfortunately closed during the winter). Any taxi you take from Borovets will know where it’s located, as the restaurant is very popular and is ranked as the second best place to eat in Samokov on Trip Advisor.
The atmosphere is that of a modern restaurant with some elements more often found in a bar. It’s furnished with attention to the little details. From the funky wallpapers, to the basket ball hoop on the wall, there are plenty of things that catch the eye in the interior. Don’t expect something ultra luxurious though, it’s not that type of restaurant. There are a few big TV’s throughout the establishment that play sports. It’s situated on two floors, a big first floor and an underground floor with fireplace. There is also a book shelf with over 200 books in English. They also have a nice selection of wines that you can pick from.
The menu is very diverse, with prices much lower than in Borovets. There is also a lunch menu that has daily 3 dish courses. These consist of a soup or salad, a main dish and a desert. You can even swap dishes between the menus, if you can’t find the perfect meal. For instance, you can take a menu N.2, but with a starter from menu N.1. These menus cost between 6lv. and 7lv.
In the main menu you can find many interesting dishes. One of the most popular dishes is the fajitas, which is quite a big serving. Other dishes we can recommend are the ribs, anything from the grill for that matter, stuffed mushrooms and much more. They have changing weekly menus and do holiday themed menus as well. The tikka masala and chili con carne are also great if you’re in the mood for something a bit more spicy.

If your going in for breakfast, Target offers a true British breakfast, or you can get a variety of pancakes. For desert we can suggest home-made cake and mousse.
