Located just a few minutes from the Hotel Rila, right next to the “Sitnyakovo Express” lift is one of our favorite places to eat on the slopes of Borovets – Restaurant Malina. This nice ski-in/ski-out restaurant is a great choice for a quick breakfast or lunch break. I first learned of it a few summers ago, as it is located right next to the Borovets Bike Park and since then I have been a regular customer.
Although it isn’t as big as some of the other restaurants in the area, it is quite cozy and warm. The staff is great and the owner Mitko is a really nice and positive guy. This definitely adds to the nice experience when eating there. The food is tasty and the menu offers a good variety of things to order. The prices also aren’t that high, so it’s definitely a place to consider eating, while in Borovets. Plenty of Bulgarians also eat here, so you know it’s a good choice since the locals like it.
My personal favorite thing on the menu is the Bic Mac sandwich. Although it may take it’s name from McDonalds, it is a much better option. Not that there is a McDonalds in Borovets anyways, thank God. You can order yours with pork or chicken meat and it comes with french fries on the side. I generally love to eat a lot and one of these sandwiches is enough for me. But if your really hungry, other than the nice selection of sandwiches, you can choose from soups, grill, omelets, salads and other dishes.
Ever gone to a restaurant with your kids only for them to start getting active and drive you bonkers? Well, they’ve got you covered here with free sledges for all their customers! And since it’s located right next to a slope, you’ve got plenty of room to have some fun. Don’t worry, there isn’t any age restriction, so nostalgic grown ups can also relive their childhood and have some fun with the sledges. This also gives an added bonus to those eating outside. The view of people crashing into each other with sledges can be quite amusing. And they crash quite a lot.
So take a break, have a Big Mac, drink a beer and enjoy watching people crashing with sledges. What more can you ask for during your lunch break from skiing?
